A story was published in the South Florida Sun-Sentinel on March 17, 2011 suggesting several local doctors have a policy of turning away patients above a certain weight limit or that are considered obese. Dr. Bernick believes strongly that healthcare professionals have an obligation to help improve the quality of health of all individuals and does not deny care based on weight or other prejudicial reasons. Dr. Bernick cares for women irrespective of race, religion, sexual orientation, medical condition, age, weight or other discriminatory factors.
